Geeking Out About: Berks.

Lady Berks, to be more specific.
I love Pinterest.

These aren't book reviews, just books I recommend. A review would require me to retain any information that I read, and all of my teachers and professors (ever) can attest that that is not a strength I have. I'm just more of a hands-on-learning person. What? Everyone's different.

I love a funny lady. It's empowering, ya know? So when people told me I HAD to read Bossypants by Tina Fey I was mildly interested. Only mildly because sometimes celebrities write books just because their name or image will sell and the book turns out to be a monster pile of steaming goat turds.
Bossypants is not a monster pile of steaming goat turds.

I lol'd on several occasions and finished the book in about 3 days. Not bad, considering I have a baby. And a full time job. And the human need to sleep, at least a little bit.

Along the same lines, I would also recommend Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) is also not a monster pile of steaming goat turds.

Right now I'm reading Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster. It's pretty hilarious, y'all.
Guess what? No goat turds.

The difference between this book and the previous two is that this one's main strength is the clever, witty voice Jen Lancaster uses while facing real life every-woman weight and appearance issues. I mean, how can you go wrong with a book that subtly references The Lord of the Rings AND Arrested Development in the footnotes?*

No lady berk recommendation blog post would be complete without an appreciative nod to J.K. Rowling. The Harry Potter series may not be particularly funny, but it's one of the greatest stories ever told. Plus, it's the only way I can get through 30 minutes on the elliptical. If you haven't read Harry Potter, what are you waiting for? Do it.

*Okay, so I retain a little bit. It's only because I read that part last night.
