Merry Christmas!

Today I booked a trip to the Bahamas to visit my brother and his family. Today it snowed in Texas. Today I'm writing using the Blogger app. Today I put on a bikini for the first time in years. Years.

I'm gonna be honest, this is the first time I haven't hated my body in a long, long time. Years, in fact. Maybe ever. I'm not saying it's perfect or anything, but I'm making progress to being comfortable in my skin. Cellulite? I haz it. Extra chub on my belly and thighs? I haz it. Stretch marks? I haz them. But you know what?

I'm a goddamn tiger and don't you forget it.

My body will never be "perfect" and I will always be my harshest critic. I still have over 20 pounds to lose, but I'm on my way. Running has helped. Like...a lot.

Who knew I had it in me to run 7 miles? That still blows my mind. That, coupled with the fact that I consider anything less than 3 miles "an easy run". I'm working on my pace (shorter runs I average 11-11:30 min miles, it's the longer runs that I go slower), but I'm really more concerned with getting miles in at this point than I am with speed.

Anyway, back to the bikini. I only have one (not including Wonder Woman, I'm saving that one for when I reach my goal - I haven't even tried it on yet) that I last wore 6 years ago. I don't even know how it's survived all of my goodwill donations, but whatev. Maybe it's because I knew that one day I'd be able to wear it again. Buried in the back of one of my drawers, I dug it out...and since I'm too nervous/chickenshit to post a full-on bikini pic, here we go:

It's...not as bad as I thought it was gonna be.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well this bikini fits me. I'm super stoked about finally losing all of this chub and feeling awesome in a bikini. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Merry Christmas to everyone, I will post more often now that the clusterfuck we call "the holiday season" is nearing an end. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas (read: Halloween thru New Years) and everything about it, but it makes for one busy mama.

Sidenote: I switched from the Blogger app to the regular website shortly after beginning this post. There aren't as many customization options with the app, like font, italics, picture placement, etc. Just an observation.
