Make time fo' dat

Fucking shit, y'all. Sometimes it's hard to be motivated. I get it. Really. I have a lot on my plate and sometimes I just want to lay naked in front of the tv instead of lace up and go running.

My job.
My kid.
Fucking chores and shit.
Writing this blerg.
Other shit.

When am I supposed to work out? When am I supposed to hang out with my friends or date people? HOW do I fit it in? (twss)

Because I WANT to. Because I NEED to. That's how.

My house isn't pristine. I never have time to sit and watch tv, and I haven't read a book in months. Somebody mowed my back yard for me and it was awesome because I have no idea who it was. Thanks, stranger. I'm sincerely grateful and only mildly creeped out.

Had I never gotten fat, I'm not sure I'd have the same drive to eat healthy and workout regularly. I think I needed to see myself that way to know that I absolutely can't let that happen again. That's what keeps me going.

You MAKE time for the things and people that are important to you.

For motivation during a workout:

- Keep your playlist fresh so you don't get bored. I download new shit pretty regularly to keep my playlist interesting. Current faves:

"Castle" by Macklemore
"Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons
"We Still in this Bitch" by B.o.B.

- Remember the compliments you've gotten about your super hot bod.  "You look so skinny!" will never get old to my ears. "Wow, you're tiny!" Yes, I am. AND I WORKED WORK HARD FOR IT. Thank you for noticing.

- Mix it up. It's not called a lazyout, it's called a workout. You have to work for it. Sick of your arm routine? Google some new ones. I'm really into doing variations on push-ups right now, and I really want to be able to do a pull up. Just one

- Set goals for yourself. I want to run my next half in December in under 2 hours. I'm interval training now to get my time faster. I also want to do that pull up.

I send daily get-up-off-yo-ass emails - send me one at meg(at)nerkyblog(dot)com and I'll add you to the list if you want 'em. They're cursy, but in a pleasant way.

  2. I decided it would be fun to homeschool the kids through the Summer to get them ready for school in the Fall (which we may or may not be doing here in the states or in another country) but between all the other billion things I do around here, I left out a work out today.

    Boo.

I feel your pain, Mama! One day of rest is allowed, surely? :)

  5. What half are you doing in December? i always get amazed that people run in the winter, and then I remember that it's too hot in TX and FL to enjoy running any other time.

Being fit after having been fat provides great motivation. People who have never had to think about their weight will never understand this.
