Bucket List

Remember back on December 31st when 95% of us resolved to get in shape for 2013? And then remember when we collectively said "ehhhhh, nah." on January 15th?

My number one New Year's resolution was to pay compliments when I think them. I think that sometimes we don't show the appreciation to the people in our lives that they deserve. Not only that, but I wanted to be more vocal about compliments to strangers and acquaintances. (There's a fine line between being complimentary and being oogie. Don't cross it.) Doesn't it brighten your day when someone tells you you look nice or you did a good job on something? Just like if you tell a person they are ugly enough times they will start to believe it, if you tell them they are beautiful enough times, they will believe that, too. Why not tell them they're beautiful?

I'm still sticking with it. It makes me feel good to know that I'm a positive impact on someone's life, even if it's in a small way.

2013 has turned into the year of new experiences for me. I've had more new experiences in the past few months than I have in the past 5 years combined. I want to do all the things! ALL the things!

Nerky's Ever-Growing Bucket List:
Write a book.
Do a triathlon.
Eat sushi. The good kind, not the kind you buy in those packages at the grocery store.
Learn French.
Go to France.
Go scuba diving.
Go to South America.
Go water skiing.
Learn the "Cups" cup thing.
Do a pull up.
Meet Tina Fey.
Scout, taste and rank the best cheeseburgers in Dallas.
Do a headstand and balance without having to use support.
Cook platanos.
Go country dancing.
Conquer my fear of public speaking.
Go surfing.
Write a movie.
Go to Australia.
Meet JK Rowling.

Do you have a bucket list? What's on it?

  2. By far the best bucket list entry is the cups song. That is one of my many jams. Ha!

  3. Weird, did "go kayak fishing" get cut off or something? Damn quirky blog layout!

  4. Oh, oh, oh, I can teach you how to make Platanos! My mom is cuban and platanos are my favorite! This is all I have on my list so far:

    1. drive a Corvette (kind of hard to believe I never have and it's been my dream car since I can remember).
    2. Go para sailing. Every damn time I go to the beach, I say I'm going to do this and I never do.
    3. Learn to sail.
    4. Continue to increase my strength through CrossFit and do a strict pull up.
    5. Finish my Bachelor's degree.

  5. Hmm. I'm agreeing with Robert. Seems kayak fishing is missing unexpectedly. If you took a week off of work you could knock out 4 or 5 of those. You should claim next week as a Happy Birthday to Me Week and knock 'em out.

  6. Write a book, huh? I would read it! :)

  8. Let's do ALL THE THINGS. My bucket list is out of control, I really hope I live to be 120, otherwise I'm not sure I'll have time to get to everything! Love your list. All of it. It's so many fun, interesting things!
