Oh shit, son. I have a half marathon in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. I need to get some miles in.

Because, beer.
And Texas.

But muh knee.

I feel 73% confident that my knee is 86% back to normal. Ish. Here's the thing, I got released from PT last week after I told them I started running on it with no pain. That was a solid MONTH before I was supposed to be cleared to run, fuck yeah.

But that doesn't mean I can run 13.1 miles. The most I've done since surgery is 6 miles, and it was slowasballs. I didn't have any pain afterward, but I did have a little bit of instability. That's worrisome so I'm not gonna push it. I mean shit, running 6 miles 2 months after surgery is pretty good, amirite? I need to learn to be content. And patient.

So we'll see about this run. I'm pretty sure I'd just say "fuck it, it's just not gonna happen this time" if it weren't for several people who signed up with me that I totes want to meet in real life, and one friend I haven't seen since college. I'm gonna run what I can and walk when I need to. And then have all the beer. (FYI guys, I'm shorter in person than I appear on the interwebz.)

You have my attention.

  1. Good luck with the training and just try not to overdo!

  2. I tried the KT Tape and it's amazing!!! You can get it at Wal-Mart in the Sports section next to supportive devices for men's junk (awkward). They have info on their website for a full knee support wrap, that might be just what you need!!!

Also, I'm super excited to meet you. And I'm taller than I appear on the interwebz ;).

  3. You go girl, you got it, walk, jog, run or crawl. I've been super impressed with ya from the beginning.

Also I can attest you are shorter in real life. :)

  4. if I had known you were going to walk and run slowasballs, i would have signed up too!

  5. you are a BEAST, and you can do it, just walk when you need to, you know your body best! :)

  6. You can just run in the back of the pack with me! But in all seriousness, don't drink all the beer before I make it to the finish, mkay?
