3 minute workouts

So I'm 0 for 2 on this 5am workout thing. I stay up too late cleaning up after the billion people I live with now, unpacking ALL THE SHIT, cooking, etc, and then 5 am rolls around and "Shake It Off" screams through my phone and the first line is "I stay up too late" and I'm like YEP STFU THE COVERS ARE WARM. (Or is it "I stay out too late"? EITHER WAY.)

The strug, amiright?

I gotta get over it. I will. I'm just still getting into the swing of things with the new house and new family and new grocery budget.

So anyway to supplement, my coworkers/office buddies and I have been doing 3 minute workouts every hour from 10-4. We double up at noon and skip 1pm usually so we can have lunch. Ya know what? My glutes are sore from our mini workouts. And my abs were sore the other day. And definitely my shoulders. And calves. And quads.

It must be working.

We usually hit 2 muscle groups in the 3 minutes. Basically we're winging it. It's a good way to get us up and moving around once an hour, and I'm pretty sure getting our blood pumping is good for productivity or creativity or something. Here are some of our workouts:

1 minute push-ups
1 minute tricep dips on the chair
1 minute wall sit

1 minute arm circles (30 seconds forward, 30 seconds reverse)
1 minute crunches
1 minute plank

1 minute high knees
1 minute butt kicks
1 minute squats

1 minute jump squats
lunge down the hall twice (this one makes our other coworkers laugh at us. whatev)

1 minute jumping jacks
1 minute side lunges
1 minute bicycle crunches

You get the idea. We've been doing it for almost 2 weeks now and it's really helped us get up and moving, which is certainly better than not getting up and moving. Challenge yourself to do a 3 minute workout every hour at work today and see how you feel!

Mid-crunch.

I'm sure she appreciates that I took this picture.

Pro tip: Set an alarm to go off every hour. Mine plays Eye of the Tiger. Totes apropes.

  2. I love this idea! I used to do a plank challenge once a day. This will work even better! I'm making an hourly list right now. :)
