Billy Madison

I never really thought I'd be back in school. I have a Bachelor's degree, and I'm not interested in a masters or doctorate unless I can get a PhD in pizza. (Dr. Pepperoni is my DJ name.) I mean, I just don't see the point in having a higher degree in art or writing unless you're gonna teach it. Just...make art. Write things. Boom.

I get that some careers require a higher level of education. I'm just not in one of those careers. Masters in French and Spanish Medieval Poetry? Nahhhh, that sounds pointless AF. I'm good.

Anyway, so this week I start some night classes, thanks partly to the tuition reimbursement program at my day job and partly to the fact that I now have roommates to feed my spawn and let the dog out in the evening when I'm in school. I have a pointless degree that's unrelated my career, and the classes I'm taking are all web and graphic design focused which is super rad because everything I've learned about it I've googled. Not that that's a bad thing,
Google is pretty informative and over the past few years I've worked my way up and now ads I've created have been in various publications, my graphics are on my company's social media pages and virtually all of our internal communication has my stamp on it in some way, shape or form. PSA: Drop out of school kids, just Google it!

Just kidding. My point is, I'm self taught and it's worked for me so far, but now I've been given an opportunity to learn more from someone who (hopefully) knows more than I do. For free. Hell yeah, I'll take it.

So why go to school when my plate is already full?

Because there's always more to learn. Plus, see above re: free. I just have to be really on point about packing enough food for the day and waking up on time so I can drop spawn off at school on time so I can get to work on time so I can leave for the gym on time so I can get to class on time.

I can do it. Just gotta stay focused. Eyes on the prize. Pedal to the metal. Nut up. In it to win it. Most of those didn't work. You get the idea. #hustlin

    1. You can do it! Take baby steps, just one class at a time. Also, meal prep like it's your job.

  4. It's not easy to do with kids but you can totally do it! I just completed my associates in December (an adult degree program), I have three kids, and gave birth to the last one during my associates program and didn't miss a single class...yeah, I feel kinda badass about that...any who, I decided that I want to pursue my bachelors degree too, so I've transferred to WSU and I'll be a traditional student starting this fall...I'm scared to death but I know it'll be worth it...I'll just be a total nut job for the next two years LOL
